Numbers beginning 09 are designated for the provision of premium rate services (PRS) which offer some form of content, product or service charged to the caller's telephone bill.The exact process depends upon what services you are running but the revenue procedure is the same in all cases. Callers wishing to use your service ring your premium rate number and are charged the premium rate number cost. (The actual cost of the call will depend on their service provider and if they are calling from a mobile) For each minute or part thereof, revenues will be credited to your Callagenix account at the end of each call.
When accumulated revenues have exceeded £100.00, payment can be transferred to your bank account using the self billing method. VAT can also be credited if you are a VAT registered company. As a part of the new regulations, revenue payments are made monthly in arrears. You need to generate in excess of £100 over a 12 period.
Callagenix will not only provide you with the Premium rate number, but will also provide you with the service to run it on enabling you to manage and update your service, track your call volumes and revenues generated in real time.
When you use a Callagenix Premium rate service you automatically benefit from using our telephone lines allowing multiple callers access to your services concurrently. This is particularly useful for Tipster services, Brochure services, Competition lines and Information services.
In addition and as a part of the code, most premium rate services will require specialist telephony requirements including, call cost messages to be played to callers, identification of a premium calls to recipients, call recording and some services will require automated call termination when a single caller has reached £30.
Callagenix is a registered and authorised network provider with PhonepayPlus.
All 09 premium rate numbers are regulated by the Premium Rate Regulator, PhonepayPlus. As a result, you will need to comply fully with the PhonepayPlus code of practice including registering as a service provider and providing Callagenix with suitable contact and ID documentation.

As a very general rule if your service is pre-recorded and not a live one (two way conversations) and does not target minors (under 18) you do not need prior permission, just compliance with the code. Most live services will require a live certificate from PhonepayPlus with some exceptions including Premium rate support lines.
